Marine Sgt. Peter Woodall, 25, of Sarasota, FL was assigned to 8th Engineer Support Battalion, 2nd Marine Logistics Group, II Marine Expeditionary Force, out of Camp Lejeune, N.C. He died April 27, 2007, during combat in Anbar province, Iraq. He was placing a TNT disruption charge on an improvised explosive device when it exploded.

SSgt. Woodall’s interest in the Marines began at Riverview High School where he was in the JROTC. He enlisted right after graduation and became an explosives ordnance disposal technician. During his first tour in Iraq, he served about eight months, where he earned a Purple Heart, two Bronze Stars and several other medals in his six years as a Marine.

He considered retiring to become a Florida Highway Patrolman after his first Tour of duty, but the native of Poland was first a Marine. He was a Marine "110 percent of the time," said his best friend from high school, Wes Boland.

He is survived by his wife Joanna and son Jacob.
